Your local NDIS Plan Manager representative on the Sunshine Coast is Marianne Morel. Marianne’s qualifications include a Diploma in Small Business Management, IT, Design, Building & Construction, and more recent qualifications in Ageing Support (Cert IV). She is also ATO trained in accounting practices

Marianne has been helping her clients since 2007 navigate through government processes and support systems for special needs clients, youth, and the elderly, through a Support Group she formed called People Matter Advocacy. She works with and supports individuals and families at their varying life stages with practical information and advice, while using her contacts and considerable expertise to connect people with services in their local area.

About the NDIS in Sunshine Coast QLD

The Sunshine Coast is home to in excess of 112 locations and/or suburbs. The Coast area is located approximately 96kms from the Queensland capital, Brisbane. The current population base of the Sunshine Coast is approximately 355,00, (2021). This makes the Sunshine Coast the third most populous place in Queensland by population after Brisbane and Gold Coast. Many people moved to the region for the economy as well as the lifestyle. The median age of people in the statistical area is children ages 0-14 who make up 17.8% and people aged 65 and over make up 20.9% of the population.

Local NDIS Information

The NDIS scheme supports people with a permanent and significant disability to take part in everyday activities. This includes people whose disability is an intellectual, sensory or physical impairment, or psychiatric condition.

The NDIS rolled out to Sunshine Coast Noosa and Gympie on 1st January 2019. In Queensland the number of active participants excluding Early childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) increased from 61,583 as at 31st December 2019 to 67,687 people receiving support from the scheme as at 31st March 2020. The number of children receiving support in the ECEI increased from 549 as at 31st December 2019 to 1,238 as at 31st March 2020. There are approximately 5,335 active NDIS participants in the Maroochydore area.

Local Area Coordinator

Carers Queensland is the NDIS Local Area Coordinator and the main point of contact for the NDIS to help people with a disability connect to supports, services and local activities. They also help participants understand the NDIS, meet with participants to create their plan and explain how to make the most of it.

ECEI Contact Details

The Early Childhood Early Intervention Partner on the Sunshine Coast is Bush Kids. Appointed by the NDIA to assist families understand the NDIS they offer independent advice on providers of support tailored to the child's needs and help children to connect with community health services, playgroups and local activities.

Sunshine Coast Mobility Maps

Sunshine Coast Council have produced mobility maps to provide a range of information including the following:
• gradient of pathways
• crossing points
• key services such as libraries, shopping areas and the post office

This is important for the Sunshine Coast community as it has a higher proportion of people aged over 60 and older. Visitors to the region will also benefit from a more inclusive and accessible tourism destination for people of all ages and abilities.

Sunbus - has wheelchair-accessible buses with routes covering much of the Sunshine Coast.

Comlink - is a transport service provided by Sunshine Coast Council. This door to door pre-booked taxi service runs to the nearest designated Shopping Centre once a week on a specific day for a $2 fare one-way fee. To book call 07 5390 1288 by noon the day before your trip.

To be plan managed, you must have ‘Improved Life Choices’ included in your NDIS plan, which covers all plan management fees so there is no cost to you. If you have an upcoming planning meeting or review, be sure to request Improved Life Choices is included in your plan. If you have a current plan that does not have Improved Life Choices included, you can request a review of your NDIS plan to have plan management included.

Yes! You can change plan managers any time. If you intend to transfer over to us during the dates of your current plan, you will need to two things: 1. Contact the NDIA on 1800 800 110 to advise them 2. Request your current/previous plan manager cancels their service booking and reduce their available funds to zero

No cost. Being plan managed means no out of pocket costs to you. When you request Improved Life Choices be included in your plan, the NDIA will cover all plan management fees. This includes the initial set up cost (per plan) as we support your transition to plan management, as well as our flat rate monthly fees.
