About the NDIS in Mackay QLD
The Mackay region is one of the fastest-growing in Queensland, with a regional population of over 120,000. The region’s growth is fuelled by strong activity in the resources sector, a resurgence in agribusiness, and growth in construction, logistics and tourism. The region is the gateway to the rich coal deposits in the Bowen and Galilee Basins. and is also one of the largest sugar-producing regions in Australia. Mackay also hosts much of the engineering, manufacturing and mining services industries supporting the wider Mackay-Isaac-Whitsunday economy.
With an envious tropical climate of mild, dry winters and balmy sea-breezes, the city of Mackay straddles the mouth of the beautiful Pioneer River, one of the few blue water rivers in Australia. The regions' beauty is complemented by the backdrop of Great Dividing Range, and the vast lush green fields of sugar cane that stretch throughout the Pioneer Valley from the mountains to long white sandy beaches, just minutes from the city centre of Mackay.
