Dubbo, Western NSW

Dubbo is situated in Western NSW on the beautiful banks of the Macquarie River and there is evidence of traditional owners Wiradjuri people dating back over 40,000 years. Dubbo is located 388km North-West of Sydney via the Blue Mountains.

Known for the Western Plains Zoo. Dubbo is situated at the intersection of the Mitchell, Newell and Golden Highways. It is also a major rail hub, connecting it to nearby towns such as Wellington, Molong and Orange. Dubbo was proclaimed a city in 1966 with a population of 43,516 (as of June 2021), 120,000+ including surrounding towns.

About The NDIS in Dubbo

The NDIS was rolled out in Western NSW between 1st July 2017-31st December 2017. It now services over 6,844 participants (Active on 30 June 2022) with an average annualised committed support budget of $75,000. There are currently 459 active providers (Active April-June 2022).

Local Area Coordinator – Social Futures

Social Futures are the primary liaison between NDIS care recipients and the NDIS itself, and they get in touch with everyone who successfully registers for NDIS consideration and will visit and gather information to allow the NDIS to develop a plan that meets an individual’s needs based on their identified goals.
