City of Wyndham
The City of Wyndham, with a population of approximately 230,000, is a local government area in the outer south-western suburbs of Melbourne comprising the suburbs of: Cocoroc, Eynesbury, Hoppers Crossing, Laverton, Little River, Mambourin, Manor Lakes, Mount Cottrell, Point Cook, Tarneit, Quandong, Truganina, Werribee, Williams Landing and Wyndham Vale. The City is the third fastest growing area in Victoria and positioned between Geelong and Melbourne has significant coastline and major tourism attractions including the Werribee Park and Mansion, State Rose Garden, Werribee Open Range Zoo, Equestrian Centre, Harbour Marina, Point Cook Coastal Park and RAAF museum; and the Western Treatment Plant.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme became available across the Wyndham on 1 October, 2018 and contracted The Brotherhood of St Laurence (BSL) to deliver Local Area Coordination (LAC) and Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI) services.
The BLS are the main liaison between NDIS care recipients and the NDIS itself, they get in touch with everyone who successfully registers for NDIS consideration and will visit and gather information to allow the NDIS to develop a plan that meets an individual’s needs based on their identified goals. Once the plan is setup, every NDIS care recipient will have a contact to ensure service providers are setup.
Individuals whose plans are managed directly by the NDIS will be restricted to registered NDIS providers, listed on the NDIS website for Wyndham. To access other providers in the area, BLS need to request Plan and/or Self Management. Plan Management will not cost the participant and will allow the providers of their choice.
